Reaching the Chinese to
Reach the World

The founding of Chinese Christian Mission, commonly known as CCM, is the realization of a vision. God gave Rev. Thomas Wang the vision of preaching the Gospel to Chinese all over the world. Therefore, in 1961, he founded the CCM in Detroit, Michigan and started to repay the debt of the Gospel to the Chinese near and far.

A Sea Apart, yet Deeply Connected
——Let us carry the spirit of mutual support and continue to walk together in God’s love

In the wake of the tragic fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, our hearts at CCM Canada remain closely connected with Hong Kong. We care deeply for every friend in Canada whose thoughts and emotions are tied to their homeland.

We have prepared

  • some emotional wellness reminders, hoping they can offer a moment of support and gentle encouragement.
  • Emotional Support Hotline Arrangement, we hope to offer timely support and a message of hope when you need it most.
  • Prayer, we invite you to join us in prayer for all who are affected — those who lost their lives, the injured, the trapped, grieving families, and the frontline responders.

In these days filled with sorrow and heaviness, we want to walk with you — to weep together, to stand together, and to pray together.

🌿 Your emotions deserve to be seen and heard

  • In times of disaster, feelings of sadness, worry, helplessness, or uneasiness are completely normal.
  • Give yourself permission to feel, and to share.
  • Acknowledging and expressing your emotions is often the first step toward healing.

🌿 Common reactions when exposed to distressing news and images

  • Anxiety, heart palpitations, insomnia, tearfulness, emotional ups and downs, or repeatedly replaying the event are all common responses.
  • Please remember: you are not alone.
  • God sees your tears. May His grace carry you through this painful season, one step at a time.

🌿 Ways to care for your emotional and physical well-being

  • Practice deep breathing to help calm your body and emotions
  • Limit prolonged exposure to news or graphic media content
  • Engage in gentle activities such as listening to music, taking a walk, journaling, or drawing
  • Talk to trusted friends or family; if needed, reach out to an emotional support hotline or professional counselling
  • Pray or meditate on Scripture — may the Lord bring peace and strength to your heart

We hope to offer timely support and a message of hope when you need it most.

Although we are thousands of miles away, our hearts remain closely linked with Hong Kong. We may not be able to hand you a warm blanket or offer a cup of cool water in person, but together we can lift our hands in prayer to the God who walks with us in suffering.

We invite you to join us in prayer for all who are affected — those who lost their lives, the injured, the trapped, grieving families, and the frontline responders. The Lord “heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3 NIV)

May He watch over, comfort, heal, and protect every life touched by this tragedy.

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father,
Though we are in Canada, our hearts are tightly bound with Hong Kong.
The fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po has taken many lives and caused deep pain.
Many are grieving, fearful, confused, and heartbroken, unsure of what lies ahead.
Lord, we cry out to You.

Draw near to every suffering family and every wounded heart.
In their darkest moments, may they find a glimmer of hope in You.

Lord, surround those who have lost loved ones with Your tender mercy.
In their unending tears and unspeakable sorrow, may they experience Your gentle comfort.

Lord, heal the injured — both body and soul — and free them from fear.

Lord, strengthen and protect all frontline responders who continue to rescue and care for the wounded.
Grant them safety, resilience, and renewed strength.

Lord, as the city grieves and hearts sink into despair, shine Your light into the darkness.
May those who suffer still find hope, still receive strength, and still know they are not alone.

We also pray for Hong Kong’s government and related departments.
Grant them wisdom and capability as they coordinate follow-up support,
and guide them toward fairness and justice in their investigation.
May Your righteousness and mercy be present among all who are affected.

Uphold each person walking through this valley.
Remind them that they are not alone —
for when we weep, You weep with us.
You are here. You hear. You love.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

In this difficult and uncertain time, may the Lord draw near to every affected person — bringing comfort, healing, and protection.

Let us carry the spirit of mutual support and continue to walk together in God’s love, so that hope may shine even in the darkest valley.

We give thanks to God! Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie has officially proclaimed December 2025 as Christian Faith Month for the second consecutive year. This meaningful recognition affirms the Christian values of love, peace, hope, and compassion as vital to the moral and spiritual fabric of our city.

This year, the Richmond Christian Faith Month Initiative (RCFMI) will expand its efforts by launching a series of city-wide campaigns to encourage greater participation from local churches and Christian organizations. Through collaborative service, we hope to bring lasting blessings to our Richmond community.

The first event, “One Faith, One Mission” Launch Meeting, was held on July 31 with participation from over 7 churches, marking a powerful start to the movement.

CCM Canada is honoured to fully support this meaningful initiative. We are committed to walking alongside churches and Christian groups in Richmond, helping to spread God’s love through prayer, service, and public witness during this special month.

Let us unite in prayer, action, and generosity as we bring Christ’s light to our city.

For more details, please stay tuned to CCM Canada & RCFMIs’ websites, and social media platforms.

CCM Canada was honoured to co-host the Mission Carnival in Ottawa, partnering with five Chinese churches and four Christian organizations. With the help of over 120 dedicated volunteers, we welcomed more than 300 participants eager to explore missions, grow in faith, and serve their communities.

The event was filled with joyful connections, cross-cultural learning, and a shared passion for God’s mission. We thank all participants, volunteers, and partners who made this event a beautiful testimony of Christ’s love for all nations.

Vancouver, May 14, 2025 — Chinese Christian Mission of Canada (“CCM Canada” in brief) is deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic incident that occurred in Vancouver following the Lapu Lapu Day celebration on April 26.

In response to the urgent needs arising from this tragedy, the Canadian Red Cross has launched the “2025 Vancouver Lapu Lapu Day Appeal” to support those directly affected. CCM Canada has immediately joined efforts with the Canadian Red Cross to raise donations that will assist individuals and families impacted by this devastating event.

Funds raised through this campaign will go toward addressing the immediate and future emergency needs of those affected, as well as supporting the recovery and rebuilding of the community. With its extensive experience and trusted presence in communities across the country, the Canadian Red Cross is well-equipped to manage relief funds and deliver critical support during times of crisis.

Financial assistance is the most effective way to help those impacted by the tragedy. We encourage everyone to contribute to the “2025 Vancouver Lapu Lapu Day Appeal” through the Canadian Red Cross. With the Red Cross’s proven systems and experience, your donation will provide timely and meaningful aid to families and individuals coping with the aftermath of this tragedy.
CCM Canada extends its heartfelt condolences to all those affected by this incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, friends, and especially the Filipino community as they face this unimaginable loss.

As we are in the midst of a federal election, we would like to highlight two critical issues that directly impact on the communities we serve.  We have sent the following letter to candidates from all parties in regions where our centres are located:

The two critical issues are 1) Proposed Changes to Charitable Status for Religious Organizations (Recommendation 430) and 2) Immigration Challenges for Hong Kong Residents.

Here is the link from Evangelical Fellowship of Canada that mentions a few ways to engage with the issue of charitable status:

Donation & Support

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

We thank you for all of your supports and prayers. May God remembers your offering!
