Our Story

A Story of Faith, Calling and God's Faithfulness

CCM's story began with a vision to share the Gospel with Chinese people around the world.

Chinese Christian Mission (CCM) was founded in 1961 by Rev. Thomas Wang, whose heart was deeply moved by the struggles of Chinese people living abroad—labouring tirelessly to build a life while longing for deeper meaning. With a desire to "repay the Gospel debt" to his people, he responded to God's call to share the Gospel with Chinese communities around the world. In 1975, Rev. Mark Cheng joined CCM and helped extend its ministry into overseas missions.

As Chinese communities grew across Canada, CCM Canada was established in 1979, with its headquarters in Vancouver. Since then, we have walked alongside individuals and communities through holistic care and Gospel proclamation, sharing the love and hope of Christ and seeking to see lives transformed through Him.

Over the years, we have grown into five key mission ministries: Literature Mission, Overseas Mission, Small Town Mission, Online Mission, and Urban Mission. Through our Urban Mission, centres have also been established in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and Montreal, serving and connecting with communities across Canada.

Today, while remaining deeply rooted in the Chinese community and firmly grounded in our Christian faith and values, we are reaching beyond cultural and generational boundaries to connect with people from different backgrounds. Our ministries may continue to grow and evolve, but the calling that began more than six decades ago remains: to build bridges where the Gospel can be shared, the love and hope of Christ can be experienced, and lives can be transformed.
